Texanthropy – Texas First Lady gets her volunteering on

While Anita Perry focused on nursing and healthcare issues, current Texas First Lady Cecilia Abbott is opting for a broader advocacy call to action: volunteerism and bringing nonprofit organizations and charitable Texans together.

With the recent launch of her “Texanthropy” website, Abbott seeks to bring together Texans, who are “generous by nature” with service and volunteering. The campaign now operates three social media channels that highlight community service opportunities, nonprofit organizations throughout the state, and outstanding volunteers.

Organizations and events covered so far are the Texas Main Street program, Meals on Wheels, OneStar Foundation, Texas Casa, Habitat for Humanity, and the Governor’s Volunteer Awards (nominations are open now).
